Site database stollen?

Hey!

I started receiving XXX spam in my Atarimania-dedicated mailbox today, so it seems that users info from this site has been comprised.

Is someone else receiving those emails from Daniele, Stasy, Deizy, Giliane, ... with a link pointing to a scam/dates/porn site?

Hi,

I don't have any information about it. I'm going to update the phpBB forum to the last version...

Can confirm.

I got a random email a couple of days ago or so, telling me someone stole my login. They lie, and claim it's for my email account, and that they have records of me looking at porn sites, yada yada yada. They always ask to send them Bitcoin; I've gotten a bunch of these kinds of emails recently, with random throw-away passwords I had used at sites I can't even recall, long long ago (e.g. "1234", etc. -- yes, yes... cue the Spaceballs quote).

Anyway, the most recent one DEFINITELY had my AtariMania login's password, so it seems you've been hacked. :( Presumably, everyone here on the site should change their password. (REMEMBER: Don't re-use the same password on multiple sites! One weak link, and you're screwed!)

Good luck, folks!

Hi,

Someone attacked our site during several weeks. We changed the user database protection with a strong encryption of email and password.

Encryption of password? Do I understand correctly that you keep user passwords in a form that can be decrypted back to the original text?

I have received SPAM-Mail with my http://www.atarimania.com/ password in it. So this was clearly stolen.

Question: How do I change my password. I can't find a way to change that password. How do I do that?

On the icon bar at the top right corner (below the search box), one of the icons is a drop-down menu with a "User Control Panel" link - use it. When in the Control Panel, switch to the "Profile" tab and then click "Edit account settings" - then you can change the password.

@atarimania: I would appreciate an answer to my question, it was serious.
