I have several old disks (all "backups" unfortunately) that have programs that are missing from the Atarimania database. I can't even find an entry for XE Term. I thought I would make copies of these so I could send them over to you guys but I want to know what is the best way to go about doing it.
I currently have APE and standard 1050 drive. I have never tried hooking them both up at the same time, I'm assuming I would plug the APE cable into the back of the 1050 and then the 1050 to the Atari. Is the correct?
Also, is there a prefered version of DOS to use and do I need a "blank" ATR file to copy these to?

Re: Making ATRs from disks question
You're right about the hookups.
APE allows you to create a new "blank" disk image via the 'File' menu, so you don't need a blank ATR file.

Thanks, I'll give it a try soon. Probably not till next week though. I have some A8 carts I need to dump too.

Re: Making ATRs from disks question
I finally got around to trying this and I'm having problems. I load up DOS 2.5 on my 1050, select J. Duplicate Disk from the menu, type 1,2 to copy from my 1050 (drive 1) to APE (drive 2). The Atari starts copying from my 1050 but when it tries to write to the blank disk image mounted in drive 2 in APE nothing happens. APE appears to ignore the Atari and then I receive an Error 138 on the Atari.
Any help on what I'm doing wrong?

I'm thinking now that I have the wrong cable. I just have a standard SIO2PC cable and I think I need a 1050to PC cable. Oh well, I tried.
