Spy Vs. Spy II

Post by Adept » Mon Mar 20, 2006 11:02 am

Hi @all,

I have a problem with Spy Vs. Spy II. Is there any special configuratiopn to make this game run with the AtariWinPlus-Emulator? Seems like the Joystick is permanent auto, firing, even I set it off in the joystick menu.

I can probably assume you're using Atari800Win 4.0 beta? It does happen in 4.0 beta, usually ending up with you blowing yourself up. A lot. :)

If you're willing to downgrade to Atari800Win 3.1 the problem will be cured. You could download 3.1, copy the .exe (and zlib.dll) into your existing Atari800Win directory and sort of alternate between the two when you want to play Spy vs Spy II. You will have to reset most of your options each time you do this though.

It's a pain, but if you're that desparate to play Spy vs Spy II, then it's the only option I have I'm afraid. I only know this because it has happened to me. :)

I hope that is of some use.

Have you knocked autofire off all four joysticks?

Yes, I did. I even tried to run it with some older versions of the emulator, but it is always the same.
It´s okay for me to see a spy blown up ( :D ), but nevertheless I really want to play this game on the A8.

Shame that, the older emulation thingummy worked for myself (although you probably don't want to know that!).

I'll have a look and see if I can come up with some foolproof. :mr.green:

Lucky You.

Yeah, I cleared all het Misc Stettings, but it didn´t change anything.
But thanks a lot for Your help: I found an original disk of Spy Vs. Spy II yesterday, and it is one of the few which still runs on my beloved 800 XL.

Re Spy v Spy 2

I've just tried all 3 spy v spy games on the latest a880 win+ and i have no autofire probs

on the emulator, look opposite the speed indicator and you will see a group of icons (about 8), the joystick/autofire icon is the fifth one (left to right) next to the mouse icon, make sure that it's grey'd out to prevent autofire

@carmel_andrews

it still can, although it does happen seemingly at random. in my case (using the latest a800win+ it does it all the time, and on 3.1 it won't...)

or at least it didn't. i just tried it now and it did all the exact same thing.

the greying out in the bottom is all handled via the dropdown menus as well. i tend to use them for setup on 'tricky' games rather than...

well, what do you know, it's just worked on 4.0... something far more sinister is afoot, i feel...

:o :?
