Hi guys,

Now I own a 1050-2-PC cable, I'm trying to restore ATR files to genuine Atari floppies. Unfortunately, there're a lot of files not working out there.

Did I miss something, or do I have to cross my fingers each time ?

What software do you use on the PC-side? Does this software format the floppy discs in the 1050 drive? Maybe you have tried to write a medium density atr image to a non-formatted or single density formatted floppy disc?

Sometimes old floppies are faulty, or your 1050 may have a problem also. Have you tried to write the same atr-image to different floppy discs?

Thanks for the quick answer.
I'm using the ProSystem for Windows, from the APE Software suite.
The options I use are :
- Use Interleaved Writes
- Format Destination
- Verify Writes

But I leave unchecked :
- Write Empty Sectors
- Disable Track Buffers

Everything runs fine till I try the floppy with a 800XL. Sometimes it works (with ATR file version 1, 2 ou 3), sometimes not. The 1050 seems to be ok, because original games load fine. Are some dumps not fully compatible with this system ?

Did you try with and without BASIC? Some of the old games may also require a translator for full compatibility.

The Atari world is still quite new for me, with only a 20 years delay

To disable BASIC, you'll need to press the OPTION key while booting (this is required for all "ML" games in the database). For programs written in BASIC (marked "BAS" in our database), just switch on the computer. If you see a "LOAD WITH OS-B" in the COMMENTS part, you'll need a "translator"... which I can send you as an ATR.
