Here's a controversial one: LOTUS ESPRIT TURBO CHALLENGE. Controversial, because I never cared much about it, and you can read all about why at the blog:

Time to get festive now, so because I didn't include any properly Christmas-themed games last year, this year I will do two of them. The first one is a part in the increasingly questionably named series of Unique Games - of course this time with a CHRISTMAS theme. It's just that there aren't that many interesting Christmas games around, if any, depending on the platform, so the struggle to keep the series devoid of any non-unique or non-exclusive games is getting painfully real. Perhaps next time, I'll get back to doing a non-thematic UG entry. But for now, go and have a look at some Christmas games at...

Before I take another swing at some Christmas stuff, here's the biggest single comparison entry I have done so far: SPY VS SPY. A bucket of coffee is recommended. :mr.green:

And here's the other Christmas special entry, as promised. This time, you're in for another twofer, featuring an Atari classic by the name of SPECIAL DELIVERY, and another game called THE OFFICIAL FATHER CHRISTMAS GAME, which wasn't released for the Atari, but for one who lives about 10 km away from the Official Santa Claus's offices, felt highly controversial... so anyway, hope you enjoy this one, and I wish everyone here a very happy Christmas! :mr.green:

On New Year's Eve, I posted a comparison of SKI OR DIE, but since it didn't have an Atari version, I didn't mention it here until now. If you still want to read it, click on here:
http://frgcb.blogspot.fi/2014/12/ski-or ... -1990.html

This year starts off similarly to last year, because I've been too damn busy to do anything more demanding. Due to a request/suggestion made at Lemon64, this time I will be including the final Atari ST/STE section for the UNIQUE GAMES series, because I've been having such a difficult time finding proper games for the ST to include there. Unless some of you guys can help me out to include more later on, this will be the last ST-related entry. Of course, there are still plenty of other Atari machines to check out...

Compiling such list would be very hard because there are thousands of those (Free/Shareware of course).

Yes, that's a bit of a problem. Hall of Light, Lemon64, LemonAmiga, World of Spectrum and CPC-Softs all have this handled quite well, if not perfectly, but I think they all have a bigger team behind all the maintenance and database editing. Any of the Atari-themed websites don't really have any proper information on the conversions made of each game, and the forums seem to only offer speculation and the focus is (understandably) only on conversions made for the Amiga instead of ALL computers and consoles around. It's not very helpful for this sort of research, and frankly, I've got better use for my time reserved for the blog than looking for needles in dozens of barns full of haystacks. Still, it's not nearly as bad as with machines like Acorn Electron/BBC Micro, TRS-80, Oric-1, NEC PC-8801 etc. Only they have such a small library of games in comparison that it's easier to go through the lists. So anyway, for the near future, I'll refrain from doing any UG-research for Atari ST, but thanks for the link. I'll just put it into my bookmarks and start going through it when I have some better time.

While I'm at it, I've got a new post to tell you about - a comparison of Atari's very own HARD DRIVIN'. It was requested/suggested by a Lemon64 user by the name of Neo-Rio, for whatever reason. Should be of some interest to you guys, since it has 3 official Atari versions: arcade, ST and Lynx. Come to think of it, I didn't check if there are any unofficial conversions for other Atari machines... oh well.

If my rate of posting seems to be slowing down a bit, there's a few good personal reasons for it. But the spamming shall inevitably go on, much as it does now. Today's rather hurriedly made entry was another request, this time from a World of Spectrum forum personality, strangely enough. The game is none other than one of the greatest 8-bit Atari classics: DROPZONE! Enjoy! 8)

I'll be taking a small break on the blog due to moving to a house on the other side of town, and it'll take some time to settle things down. Anyway, here are the last few posts I made this month...

After a bit of personal time off, here's the first blog post for this month, so happy St. Valentine's, everybody!
This time, we have another request fulfilled, and although it was made primarily for the Amstrad and Spectrum, Atari ST is high on the list....

For the last item on the list, I'm sure I have missed some Atari games, so if anyone knows of any music games that are not on the list, throw me a comment.

First of a very few entries for May, here's something I've been planning on doing for a LONG time. There are two Atari versions included in this comparison of BARBARIAN - THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR, so there's something to keep an eye on. It's another long one, so grab some coffee before reading.

Here's a comparison of an Atari-original, and an interesting one at that: REALM OF IMPOSSIBILITY. I'm not completely sure whether the results are completely valid, since I couldn't get the actual EA version to work properly on any emulator - none of the enemies would ever appear, no matter which version I would use on any of my three otherwise faithful emulators, so the Atari test is based on the original Zombies game. Hope that's close enough to the truth. If not, I'd appreciate some help on how to get it to actually work. For now, click on to read...
