Here's another huge project, which should at least please all the Michael Jackson fans, if there are any here.
My girlfriend made the original request about half a year ago, so it's about time I finished it.
The Atari ST version is strong on this one, so check it out.

Just posted another Atari-related two-for-one entry. The end results may not perhaps please everybody, but I'm not sure if they should even be considered as results in this case. The games under inspection are HENRY'S HOUSE and NEPTUNE'S DAUGHTERS from English Software, and for all I care, they are equally good on both C64 and Atari... just different. Go check it out here... :)

Your site is really good, if you want to expand your readership put a post on the following websites

Atari-Forum http://www.-atari-forum.com
Lemon C64 http://www.lemon64.com

Thanks for the suggestions. I will keep the Atari sites in mind, but I don't like to register on forums that I wouldn't find myself coming to regularly for any other reason than advertising. Perhaps later. Lemon64 was the first forum I advertised the blog on, you can find it at the New Releases subforum, if you haven't noticed it before.

But I logged in this time for another update on my blog - this time it's my first comparison request ever made, finally finished. Perhaps it's not the most Atari-positive entry, but since the ST has a version, here you go.

I used to play the NES-version very much. ST-version didn't feel very good after that even if i like the soundtrack more. I guess it was because of the flipscreen scrolling that destroyed enjoyability in many games.

Here's something a bit different now, hope everyone's okay with it. It's another set of UNIQUE GAMES, but this time, the focus is on games made AFTER the commercial death/discontinuation of each machine. So, most of the games are quite recent. I tried to throw in games that I really found representative of the retrogaming mindset at its best, and what could be considered new classics in most cases. So, this is my tribute of sorts to all you lot who manage to create something new and exciting for these brilliant old machines, hope you like it (and if you do, I might do another one of these in the future). :)

I'll end this year with a huge two-part comparison of a popular request: SUMMER GAMES! The Ataris are quite well represented here, with 4 different conversions, so it should be an interesting read.

PART 1: http://frgcb.blogspot.fi/2014/06/summer ... art-1.html
PART 2: http://frgcb.blogspot.fi/2014/06/summer ... art-2.html

And with that, I'll sign off from the blog for the duration of July, and get back in business on my blog's first anniversary in August. Happy reading! 8)

The second year of FRGCB has now properly started, and the first comparison entry is about a French game called BUMPY. Strangely, it's also about another French game called Pop-Up, so click on the link to see what it's all about. It's a very Atari-positive start for a new year at the blog, so you might as well enjoy it as much as you can.

Some more Atari-related reading material for this month - here's a comparison of FORT APOCALYPSE.
http://frgcb.blogspot.fi/2014/08/fort-a ... -1982.html
The comparison was originally published in the C64-based RESET magazine a couple of weeks ago, but I've been so busy with other stuff in my life lately that I haven't had time to work all that much on the blog. Next month should bring my posting rate closer to normality.

Here's another request fulfilled - a comparison of TRANTOR: THE LAST STORMTROOPER.
Not my favourite sort of game, but should be pleasing enough for the winner(s).

Another early movie tie-in has now been compared as thoroughly as I could bother, and this one had a lot of Atari versions. Corrections are welcome if needed. :mr.green:

Time for some UPDATES again. And about time it is, too, because there have been so many great things happening in the world of old computers in the past 9 months, that I've had a hard time following everything. There's the ATARI STE version of Giana Sisters, which is brilliant, the Amiga version of Where Time Stood Still, and the new C64 upgrade of Commando amongst others. These, and some other games, will be dealt in this update entry, so have a good read. 8)

To balance out the lack of Atari games for my Halloween theme, here's a properly big one to bring the theme to a nice finale. Hopefully, it's something expected as well as unexpected.
So, without further ado, here's my humongous comparison of Ocean's big-budget movie tie-in of BATMAN THE MOVIE, as well as something extra... :mr.green:

I did mention the A2600 game Haunted House on my UNIQUE HORROR GAMES entry a couple of weeks ago, which you can read about here:

Damn, I've been a bit forgetful lately about updating my blog-spamming threads around the web. Well, here are the latest Atari-related entries...

KIKSTART 2 - http://frgcb.blogspot.fi/2014/11/kiksta ... -1987.html
Not strictly an Atari-related game, but there is a short post-script about the first Kikstart game, naturally with the Atari version mentioned.

RIVER RESCUE - http://frgcb.blogspot.fi/2014/11/river- ... -1982.html

BC's QUEST FOR TIRES - http://frgcb.blogspot.fi/2014/11/bcs-qu ... -1983.html

So it's a bunch of old 8-bit games again. In a short while, I'm moving on to more 16-bit based games again, so keep an eye on those...

Just to deviate from the norm a bit, I decided to make an entry about all the emulators I've been using, and what seem to be the most generally recommended ones. If you want to recommend some more, please do leave a comment either here, or in the comments section in the actual blog post. :)
