Ouch!
Let's hope that the damage isn't too severe, and that AA can be restored soon.

From the webhosts:
Code: Select all
This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room.
This is a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday.

The latest information is that they hope to restore some power in approx. 90 minutes. There's no information about when AA will be back online as yet.

How dare an explosion take down my favorite web site.

That was probably a terrorist attack from the Republic of Commodoristan.
Now seriously, glad to hear that no one was injured and that it looks like no data was lost.
Atariage and Atarimania are the main Atari related sites that I visit (and also the best), and it would be a great loss to lose any of the two.

That was my first guess, too.

Yeah, Al must be almost bald from pulling his hair out over this. I visit Atarimania and AtariAge all the time and you don't realize how good they are until they are gone. Seems like The Planet is having some massive troubles still, but they only know the extent of it.

AA is back up, at least for now.
