I recently got a tape drive. It's been about 20 years since I last used one. I opened a cassette game - Temple of Apshai - and noticed a huge warning on a note in the box. It said something like "most of the tapes that come back to us here at Epyx have been found to be damaged becuse users should be demagentizing thier heads and cleaaning the drive every 3 hours of use and they have not been"
(Note: I might have the time wrong, but it was a frequent interval.)
So, is there a demagnetizing head cleaner available somehwere? Should I be using it? I tried a few tapes I did not care about, and got "boot error" during load. I know that could be anything, but I don't want to experiment further without cleaning the drive.
Tape advice needed

Well, I still have the 1010 deck I bought in 1984. Never cleaned the head once and it still works fine
