Was an Atari your first computer?

For everything... general (no kidding).

Waited a while for the Atari 800 to drop in price...

Finally bought one in Hammersmith, London with 1010 recorder.
Star Raiders, Shamus and Race in Space. And MatchRacers?
The Apple II was never a consideration, the C64 nowhere to be
seen at this time, and no Spectrum.

After seeing Star Raiders going, what other computer can even compare?

It is a bit strange though, to go from writing game reviews for Page 6, drawing a few pictures with MicroPainter --- and eventually becoming involved with designing game graphics, to designing a game almost in it's entirety? My memory is a bit fuzzy how HawkQuest came about, and whether it has met or exceeded what I wanted it to do?
Of course, the person responsible for HawkQuest - for making it possible, is it's programmer - Andrew Bradfield, who started as a keen computer videogames player. That he actually ended up programming two computer videogames, is probably his dreams come true?
He's not around anymore, to comment upon this...
