alternate reality the dungeon
Hello there finally got this game going have not played this game since it first came out many years ago and find that i'm having difficulty finding my way to the dungeon i'm stuck on the first level consequently the amount of combat i'v done has made my skills to high which makes my leather armour and weapons to weak for the creatures i'm now starting to meet so i need to get to level 2 and the dwarven smithy this is where i was all those years ago but time and tide as they say...i'v looked around the net and find that there's not much around in the way of maps or info on how to get to this level can anyone give me good simple instructions to help me with this problem

It's possible to stitch them together in a graphics app - as you say, it's not easy, but the pictures are named NW,NE,SW,SE, so it's a matter of cropping, resizing and fitting them together.ficusok wrote:hi there thanks for your reply have those maps printed out not easy to sort them out how they fit together theres no run off

I tried for about 5 minutes, and got a page that looked semi-OK.ficusok wrote:Hi there thanks for helping an old scrote yes i was trying to sort that did your prints have one side edge not printing out when i first played this way back in the 80s got on well with it once i get into the dungeon i still remember a lot of that side should be ok
The trick is to crop the images properly, and then align them correctly. If you can get them all to be exactly the same size (getting rid of the unnecessary borders, etc) that will help a great deal.
I'm sure that there are better maps online, somewhere. That page was one that I was looking at recently, but I strongly suspect that someone has done a better job already. If not, then there's an opportunity...

Perhaps one of the finest Alternate Reality resources in the world.

http://kang.aroo.tv/ar used to be a great site, too, but it seems to have disappeared... too bad.
I wasted more time playing this game when I was a kid than I'd care to think about. Man, what I wouldn't do for that kind of time now.

Don't throw effort after foolishness, you duffer!
