5200 owner in Europe?

Post by pongbeat » Tue Sep 14, 2004 9:42 pm

I was wondering how many people have a 5200 in Europe?
100...200? or more

I've thought about getting one - but the 8-bit computer collection comes first!

I've seen a few 5200 carts being bought on eBay by UK people, but not very often. The PSU is more difficult to substitute than some Atari equipment, and there's also the question of NTSC video.

I couldn't even guess at how many 5200 owners there are in Europe.

AFAIK there are not few people mostly in the western part of Germany who still have a 5200 once imported by soldiers and their families stationed in large US military bases like Ramstein or near Bamberg. These US bases are also the main source of NTSC 400/800 equipment (mainly from schools) found in Germany.

Ok, now I understand why there are 'so much' 5200 and NTSC A8 computers on Ebay.de. Thanks for the info.

I only know 1 people who bought his Atari 5200 through Ebay.com.

This console is pretty unusual in Europe, and I'm thinking about getting one. The games are not that expensive, but the shipping charges from the USA should be quite high I fear.

Is it heavy ?

Yes it's heavy! not really the console but the power suply is...expect a x2 or x3 of the price just for the postage!
For example; 20$ console 50 or 60$ the postage!!!..
I know this because i owned two and that's what i paid for surface mail so i don't even think about it via airmail!!!
good luck!
