Post by jetset » Thu Sep 30, 2004 3:37 pm

Is anyone knowledgable in converting A800 files for use with a 5200 unit?

Check the 5200 threads on AtariAge, some programmers have come up with some very nice conversions.

I've converted about 30 (maybe more) games from the 8-bit to the 5200.

What info do you need? :D

I want to know how to do them myself
I actually have your multicart. I'm waiting for a few more conversions actually to send back to you for re-programming, but if I can convert them myself I can pick exactly which ones I want on it.

Basically you completely disassemble the game and change anything that interacts with the BIOS or hardware so it matches the 5200 instead of the 8-bit.

You can get DIS6502 free off my site at http://www.atarimax.com/. Its good enough for reversing small games once you get the hang of it. :)

What games are you looking to convert?

All of them! :D

Actually, enough that I could send the cart back to you for reprogramming with mostly 800 conversions. I have ALL the 5200 carts, so I mostly got the multi cart for the conversions. It's cheaper and takes up less room than starting a 400/800 collection!
