Synapse Software

Post by Atari Frog » Sat Aug 05, 2006 10:34 am

Questions for collectors...

1. Were Air Support, Countdown and Electrician only available in combo packs?

2. Were New York City - The Big Apple and Quasimodo ever sold as individual titles? Ads show the boxes for these games but that's about all I've seen so far...

I'm almost sure they were all released as singles.

In first place, in all the combo we have seen, the box is just for one title. The combo is indicated with a sticker, not preprinted in the box.

It is also very unlikely that Synapse would release two big hits in a bundle right from the start. More than likely they were sold as bundles sometime later.

I believe that New York City has appeared on ebay in a Synapse box.

Good point. According to dealer ads, Air Support, Electrician, New York City - The Big Apple and Quasimodo were released on their own... Now has anybody clearly seen Air Support and Electrician in proper packaging? Do cassette versions exist for these two? What do the manual and disks look like?

I believe Countdown only came bundled with Rainbow Walker.

Manuals are separate, one for each game. Single disk, one game per side.

I believe these were only sold in combo packs. I remember buying Air Support as soon as it came out, and it was definitely a combo pack.

These games were released when Synapse was in financial difficulty. I guess they were desperate for sales. Also, Atari piracy was very bad at this time, which further reduced sales.
