Is the power supply for th 800xl the same as the 800 btw...? I know the data cable is the same right? The data (SIO) cables are the same, but the PSUs aren't. The 400,800,810 and 1050 (amongst others) used standard jack plugs to connect, whereas the 800xl used a DIN plug. More info here: http://www...

Hmmm...yeah maybe I should just learn to use the sio2pc and APE program and just save game progress onto my PC instead of the huge 810 disk drive. I'm running out of room big time and dont need to have the disk drive anyways. As it is, I'm considering buying an 800xl system partly since it's a much ...

Cool.. thanks again for the info! What other modern gadgests are there for the a8? I'm curious as well, but if you're looking for stuff to buy, just get the SIO2PC from Atarimax. You'll have roughly 3,000 + games at your fingertips. TRUST me it's all you'll need for a while! Meanwhile, I have anoth...

About the only thing stopping you now is the 48k in your Atari 800.
OH!
That brings me to another question!

Ok...I have four memory modules. Three are 16K, and the 4th has no label and doesnt indicate what it is...what is the 4th memory mod?

I really like the 1200xl, but for maximum compatibility, the 800xl or 130xe are probably best. However, your 800 is the best-built of them all, and will play the vast majority of games. Yeah, I'll probably stick with it. If I could somehow paint it black to match my other 4 systems...(Vader 2600, 7...

I love it when a plan comes together 8) About the only thing stopping you now is the 48k in your Atari 800. A few games require 64k and some of the newer ones like 128k in the 130XE. But it really is a minority of games. Funny you should mention... I was thinking of upgrading to the 1200 series, si...

Once again I owe you guys thanks! I'm starting to get the hang of this I think!
I was able to run games using the PC-mirror, and also (against Atari Frogs advice I'm afraid) figured out how to convert .com files to .atr. the ones I did played with no problems.

Are you using the APE software? The PC-mirror part of APE lets you run all executables through a menu. Atari executables are .com, .xex, or .exe Ok, this part I might be able to handle. SO....say for example, I have the satans hollow.com file (which I rename satan.com so it is under 8 characters) I...

Check for ATRUTIL by Ken Siders. Don't have any URL handy but I'm fairly sure Google will find it. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com After much googling, I found it, and was able to seperate the file(s), but they are in ".com" form, and need to be in ".atr" form. Is there a program for this ?

Ok my friends...time for more help please! I may have mentioned before, I have a disk with literally thousands of game (atr) files. Most work fine, some will not. I recently made an odd discovery... Satans Hollow.atr will not run properly for me. I also downloaded that file from a few other sites, s...

Hey, thanks for all the help. As it turns out, the file I was trying (adventure 2600) I still cant get to run, but so far about 99% of the other games with the "-bas" in the name load fine with the Basic cart in. Some however require "turbo" basic...is that another cart I can get or is that on the x...

In the case of Adventure , I think you need to manually boot the program. Load the disk with BASIC, type "DOS" at the prompt, look for the file with a BASIC extender, go back to BASIC by pressing "B" and RUN"D:FILENAME.BAS, that should do the trick. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com I actuall...
