Re: SIO Patch in Emulator - documentation available?

Hi, I am looking for a documentation of the SIO-patch "for fast disk access" (used with Atari emulators, e.g. in Atari800Win PLus 4.0). What does this patch alter in the normal OS SIO-routine? Thanks for your help, André Download the source code and see for yourself. OK, that's not such an easy thi...

Not much luck with these hybrid (BASIC + data) tapes. I managed to break up the tape into four separate files (using Hexplorer). I am pretty sure all the files are intact. I can now run the title screen program. I can also load the main program. What I can't do is get the timing right with the final...

Thanks for the links! I did stumble upon the Atari in Czech Republic page just before getting back here. Exciting stuff! I wonder if there are conversion utilities and Turbo Tape emulators, like CAS2SIO but for the high speed tape formats. I purchased my first Atari drives in 1984-1985, nearly five ...

Turbo tape interfaces and possible CD interfaces.

Not sure this is the right forum for this subject but does anyone have information on Turbo Tape or Turbo CD interfaces? I didn't even know high speed tape interfaces existed and now I've heard a rumor of a similar interfaces for standard CD Players, not CDROM drives but standalone audio players. No...

You've put a lot of work into this! It's a pity that you don't have a real Atari cassette deck, because it would be interesting to see what happened in that case. Much time, yes, mostly spent recording the tape. Much work, not really. I've spent more effort typing messages. LOL! I too am a little b...

Edited for typographical errors The program is failing at direct reads of the tape. These are in the form of GET #U3, variable (U3 being itself a variable for the file number). The program is doing these reads in a For..Next loop. I would think timing for this would be critical. Difficult using a r...

Hi, First of all, thanks for contributing again! The tape image will be uploaded tomorrow  I happen to have Crush, Crumble and Chomp! on tape and tried the conversion a couple of weeks ago... without using WAV2CAS. What were you using if not WAV2CAS? If you have the last part of the program w...

I forgot this earlier but Ernest suggested that if you have multiplie copies of the file you might use a WAV editor to replace damaged areas. ... It also wouldn't be possible with commercial tapes unless one had multiple copies from which to record different WAV files. You don't neccessarily need m...

One of us is confused (probably me). It is my understanding that a stereo tape recorder lays down two tracks in the form of L+R on one track and L-R on the other track. During playback the signals are added and subtracted from one another to produce L+L and R+R, the separate channels. Hmm, I’m not ...

The APX release is now in the database, thanks for pointing that out. There are still hundreds and hundreds of titles we need to add, we'll get all of them eventually  Caverns of Mars - APX-10084 is one of the tapes I'm still trying to convert to a CAS image. Well, here goes another couple of...

I converted two of the six commercial tape without much trouble. Two tapes were unusable. They had huge audio gaps and nothing could be done to save them. This is not necessarily a bad tape. Some commercial tapes have long gaps, it could be for copy protection and it could be for other reasons as w...

Did any of you notice some tape recorders were more reliable than others? I don't know if this has to do with the head alignment or something else but I found the 1010 would load some programs the XC12 just couldn't handle. No, I only had one original 410 from 1979. I never wanted another tape reco...

Thanks for the super detailed information! BTW, if you have some standard BASIC files on tape and can't get anywhere with WAV2CAS, you can, of course, just save the files to disk, load them with Atari800WinPLus and create CAS files with the emulator. That would be hard to do without an Atari tape r...

I've been using this, but with mixed results. Does anyone have good experiences with this utility? [edited for typos and content] Some good experiences, more bad experiences, lots of frustration.
