Great stuff.

Personally I believe it should be 'compiled Quick!' especially if you're using 'compiled Action!'.

I would be able to but the Atari stuff is back in the loft so it'll have to wait until I have some spare time.

And, no, I won't image 'The Last Guardian' twice!

Language.

Do you think you'll ever consider expanding the current 'Language' options? I understand it'd be quite a task because it isn't always easy to tell which language has been used without looking at the actual file itself and you do probably have more important stuff to concentrate on first! Anyway, I'm...

Micro Discount releases.

I recently came across the Mirco Discount disks that Derek Fern sent me and they are Cavernia, The Last Guardian, Mirax Force, Sidewinder, Zybex and The Last Guardian. All have the M.D.Software gold stickers and disk labels so they seem genuine releases. Also, the Zybex is the Stereo Sound version s...

Fruitman that was it!

Got a feeling that game will be near impossible to find as it was only available for a limited period before Code Masters got hold of it.

Sorry to bring this up again but the guy who ran Callisto was Steve Williamson. He's the guy who coded Las Vegas Casino for Zeppelin and Zero War for Harlequin (and Fruit Machine Simulator for Code Masters we now know!).

All came back to me when I saw the Las Vegas Casino dump!

Well, check the very first issues of Computer & Video Games (1981-82 era) and you'll notice ads from Calisto. I'm fairly sure they're the same guys. I bow to your superior knowledge! A bit like the later Micro Discount / Zeppelin deal then? I'll check my mags. Yeh, but Zeppelin's Atari output had f...

Callisto were not an early distributor of Atari software; they joined pretty late! Perhaps you are mistaking them from an early publisher using a similar name?

If you check your Page 6 mags around the time Zybex/Speed Ace were released you'll see their advert.

Zybex and Speed Ace

I remember buying the disk versions of these games from a company called Callisto. Apparently they did a deal with Zeppelin for exclusive rights to produce disk versions of these two games. Basically, it was just a simple red disk with the cassette inserts. The guy at the company also sold a game he...

There was a version of Turbo BASIC available for 48k 400/800 machines. Not sure if it incorporated everything in Turbo BASIC XL, but it was definitely out there.

Illegal jumps into the OS.

Just noticed that the recently added 'Q*Bert' game will run with OS-B only and I believe this is due to so-called illegal jumps into the OS. I remember coming across a few games like this (an Asteroids clone and Pogo Joe spring to mind) which were easily fixed to run fine on XL machines by simply ch...

I don't believe there were any commercial releases of games created with Adventure Writer (except the one you mentioned and I've never heard of that). The Spectrum version of Adventure Writer was called The Quill and that certainly had quite a few commercial releases. It would have been SO simple to...
