Re: Ms. Pac-man control issues
Here's my latest Ms. Pacman score for Atari 800. I actually got this last year but since the Retrocade magazine shut down, I'm posting it here. I posted most of my Atari 8-bit and Atari 5200 high scores on retrocademagazine's forums but they have disappeared like things and people tend to do in the ...

Re: Any 5200 Fans?
I rather like the 5200, partly because it is such a quirky system.. But Centipede played with the track ball is a really awesome game. Seriously, Serious I find it hard to play with the trackball because I find the joystick to give me better pinpoint control. But it's fun to play with the trackball...

Re: Any 5200 Fans?
To those unfamiliar with MPDOS SuperPro or MPDOS Pro, it allows uploading a multimedia CDROM to the Atari 8-bit (650MB of compressed audio-visual data decompressed on PC but displayed and played on Atari 400/800/XL/XE). I took a couple of snapshots of the images from MPDOS SuperPro and converted the...

Re: Noob question
How would he revolve the disk at around 300rpm and wouldn't he have to first drill a hole from the bottom of the drive so he can put the disk on his finger to spin it with the lever open? Anyways, I don't think the speed of the disk being an issue is remote. You know, it's a small world. I know a us...

Re: How to Run a Game?
Caverns of Khafka and all other titles are for Atari machines not for Windows 7 (64 or 32 bit). If you meant emulator, then there are issues with 32-bit and 16-bit software running on 64-bit OSes. It's Microsoft's fault as they purposely didn't support backward compatibility on their 64-bit OSes. Th...

Re: Noob question
Most likely dirty disk drive or bad disk. I had a few 1050s sitting around and recently when I was testing some disk software, some had problems loading the programs until I gave the drive a good cleaning. Fortunately, I kept the disks in their sleeves and in a box, but the disk drives I kept withou...

Re: Any 5200 Fans?
I am a fan of Atari 5200. There is a lot more trackball based games than A8 and because they are easy to fix (assuming you don't want to put the shield back on). I think this topic needs some technical reference links to the Atari 5200. So let me propose a couple of questions which I was googling ar...

Re: Wanting to buy Atari 8-bit software
I should have a pretty good list by Sunday. But if you want me to test all of them, it may take more time. Also, it may involve opening up some packages that are still sealed like the Great American Cross Country Racing game.
Maybe a good excuse to try hooking up the 410 recorder again to my Atari.

Re: Wanting to buy Atari 8-bit software
What are you looking for and what media (cassette, disk, or cartridge)? I have a bunch of original disks and original cassette that I don't use anymore (still use many cartridges). They are all sitting somewhere in my garage. Few titles that I remember at this time are: Beach head (disk), zaxxon (ca...

Re: Ms. Pac-man control issues
I'm sure there are many ways to get to the problem and fix it, but I don't disassemble to play around with other people's code. Also, I don't spend time with emulators as you are then dealing with potentially two problems at the same time. I just noticed a bit of the control issue in Oilswell as wel...

There's also a 6502 cross assember + peripheral simulator available from Krishna Software Inc. called MPDOS Pro. It works under Windows 3.x/95/98SE/2K/XP/Vista (32-bit)/Windows 7 (32-bit). The assembled code can directly be uploaded and executed on real Atari 8-bit computers instantly within the sam...

Ms. Pac-man control issues
I have been playing the Ms. Pac-man cartridge on Atari 8-bit machines the past couple of weeks and once in a while it seems the joystick controls just go away for a half a second or so. This has led to quite a bit of frustration as I tried to set my own record for this game. I am moving along fine a...
